This week in China, Intel will show gadget that can significantly reduce level electricity consumption in homes and small offices, and it will be another step giant computer industry in fight for energy savings.
Gadget accommodates server-sensor that monitors power consumption various household appliances and lighting fixtures in homes or small commercial buildings. Information collected is transmitted via Wi-Fi to your home computer or to proprietary power management console specifically designed by Intel.
At first stage, home server accumulates information about electricity consumption and transfers it to energy monitors, performing only passive function controller. But after while it starts to optimize power consumption, it means that system will control lighting shutdown, adjust temperature water heater, disconnect unused electrical appliances with the help person or computer program.
According to Intel, millions houses and office buildings equipped with automated systems will save energy, which would be produced by several 700 megawatt power plants.
